This is a professional position that performs complex tasks to coordinate the human resources functions of the Fire-EMS department, including recruitment/selection, training, policy development, salary administration, and employee relations.
Organization:
The Human Resources Coordinator reports to the Assistant Chief of Administration and supervises the Volunteer Membership Coordinator.
Essential Functions:
o Conducts employee training sessions on human resources programs, career development and incentives.
o Responds to inquiries from employees and departments as needed.
o Develops procedures to ensure consistent implementation of human resources programs.
o Works with vendors related to human resources management and testing.
o Advises employees and departments on questions and processes related to Human Resources Programs in the Fire-EMS Department.
o Supervises Fire-EMS Human Resources staff and completes related paperwork.
o Trains and develops staff.
o Interprets Human Resources policies to employees and the public.
o Supervises Department Payroll and other special projects.
o Conducts research on Human Resources issues, policies or programs.
o Performs related work as assigned.

Exempt Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource administration, required.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and the public, required.
Must be able to lead and supervise.
Must know how to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Computer literacy, required.
Education, Experience and Training:
Bachelor's degree (related field preferred) required with at least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in human resource administration including supervisory experience required - OR - Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
